Sunny Cai (SC) assisted in recording the minutes. KP reviewed the antitrust policy notice. Agenda/Action Items Kandan Kathirvel (KK) reviewed the agenda for the meeting. There were no changes or additional topics added. TSC induction requests: We received Induction request from three companies to ask to add as TSC members: Red Hat (Bala Varadaraju), Samsung (Victor Morales), AccuKnox (Raj Panchapakesan) * Red Hat (Bala Varadaraju): Bala’s goal is to come to the community and contribute meaningfully and consistently * Samsung (Victor Morales): Samsung has been involved in the community in multiple areas. Samsung is requesting to be a TSC voting member. * AccuKnox (Raj Panchapakesan): AccuKnox’s goal is to continue enhancing security in the Nephio project across domains. Accuknox is asking to form a Security SIG in Nephio. Accuknox will continue to participate and contribute to the community as security becomes the key pillar of the Nephio design. * ACTION Kenny Paul (KP) will send the text resolution to the TSC for n email vote. There will be a sibgle email with one resolution each for these three companies. If inducted, the new organizations will each receive one voting seat similar to all the others. R1 updates: R1 launch was successful. Companies can still provide quotes to Sunny for her to add quotes to the website. Share Nephio blog with Sunny about R1 Sunnyvale event: Kandan is shooting for first week of October for the event. Event will be hosted in the Google building as with the previous Sunnyvale event. Concerns about the timing being late into the R2 time line were noted, but deemed the best due to holidays the 1st week of September. Summary of Nephio next steps: Summary of Nephio funding options was presented - Recommendation is to pursue Nephio joining LFN as a graduated project Kandan and Arpit presented all three options that were considered Noted that Kenny & Lucy have been evaluating what the main challenges will be for Nephio during the LFN induction process: Lucy has started the OpenSSF badging process. Scorecard is 30-40% completed. - Not a blocker Questions from folks on the call: Cost to join LFN * Fee structure (TSC members don’t need to be an LFN member) * If you do want to join to support the community, talk to Arpit about LFN membership How was the decision made when comparing joining CNCF or LFN? * We looked into four criterions: * Networking ecosystem Fragmentation * Still treated as a non-funded Project at the Sandbox level * Loss of most of the current Advanced Service levels for at least a year * CNCF focus is not on networking What are the challenges for using our CI/CD systems in terms of joining these three options? Do we need to make transitions? * Very unlikely. We as a community will decide what CI/CD systems we want to use Distribution that involves collaboration between multiple projects. Are we thinking of collaborating with other LFN projects? * There is an option for Nephio to get included in the 5G super blueprint. It’s not required to collaborate with other LFN projects. SIG updates: SIGs had a lot of meetings from one meeting per week to two meetings per week. Mainly focused on R2 planning How to accept adjacent code contributors? Background: We start to get many requests for contributing codes to Nephio, although we are not sure if we want a lot of these codes for the next distribution. We are planning to create a separate GitHub group, called “Nephio Experimental”, which will have lower bars for code approval. We need to make it clear that it’s not a part of the distribution.
